In case you are wondering about that new banner on top,
I have joined this A to Z challenge for fun. I just want to see how it goes.
So today being the first day (and the first alphabet) it’s A and I start with Artifacts. (some say the spelling is Artefacts)
Had been to a friend’s house in January and I was impressed by her collections and the way she has maintained it.
She did mention to me about each item and from where they are. Trust me to remember all that.. . . . . . . .
All that I can say is that it is from all over the world.
I like these old wick lamps (above) They are of different sizes and shapes and they are well polished and preserved. Notice how the chimney also changes based on the size of the lamp.
That statue of St Francis is carved out of a single piece of wood and then painted.
The only thing from India is the Elephant.
I wonder if this comes under Artifact or Antique as they are used to play the latest CDs but I was fascinated by the valves in it. Reminded me of the old Valve Radios which we had, and how we had to wait for anything between 30 seconds to a minute for these valves to get hot so that the radio would be functional.

Whoa! What fantastic pictures... and a great use of the letter A! Verrrry fun ;)
The CD player is so unique! I've never seen one like it with valves.
Very neat stuff. I love the lamps too and the way they are lined up.
What beautiful photos! I look forward to reading more of your posts, and thanks for visiting my blog!
Love all these collections!
Lovely collection, the ceramic pots and wick lamps make me sigh.
the collections are lovely but I always wonder who does all the dusting and cleaning to keep them so sparkling.
I have a kitchen and dining room full of roosters, and I really like the copper kettle in your first pic!
All of that stuff reminds me so my of my great Aunt Fanny's place when she was alive. Thank you for the memories and interesting post.
Those artifacts are sweet! Do you know what I love the most, though? That black cabinet underneath the "radio valve" thingy; that's gorgeous!
Beautiful artifacts! My mom collected all types of elephants, some are similar to the Indian elephant shown above. It's funny how I never really appreciated them as a kid, but really enjoy them now. Julie
What a great selection of artifacts. I am admiring that chicken in the corner...
I'm a big collector of lots of different things, so Artifacts is a perfect word to begin your A to Z challenge. Lovely photos and collections. :)
You picked an interesting "a" subject...something made by the use of art...a human product...nice collections.
Yes Marie, she was took special care of those jars.
