I always wondered why we never go in for the natural resources
that is available in plenty. Sunlight and wind power are just two of them.

Last week I read in the papers that a housing complex in Pune
installed windmills in their complex. One windmill each on top of every building.
A novel idea to reduce the monthly electricity bill.
I agree with what Achim
Steiner (Executive Director of UNEP) had to say “If you cannot produce enough
electricity for a building on the equator, where on earth would you do it?”
This was in response to the objection that the people had in
installing solar panels in Kenya “you know you can’t do this in Africa, these
technologies are too complicated. They are expensive, it is all wrong, we are on
the equator”
Achim continued “I still have a dream that in Kenya twenty
years from now with the photo voltaic and solar revolution what we will
actually see is the rural areas of the country generating the electricity and
selling it to the cities” .... . . . . . . . . to continue reading click here

Something every one should think of.... saving energy.
Yes Marie, saving energy as well as reducing pollution.
What a wonderfully eclectic blog you have. I enjoyed reading back through some of your older posts - just the sort of variety that I enjoy.
India has such a vast resource of natural resources , our leaders and others need to think of a way to use it and help ... but then as long as corruption is there i doubt if things will happen
Bikram's
I love the idea of using natural resources, but there are so many people in England who object because they don't want a wind farm spoiling their view - it's so short-sighted!
We have a full solar setup on our RV and love it. The generator is backup for cloudy days. We can go two weeks without needing to hookup for water and dump our tanks.
We plan to look into solar for our home in TN when we finally build it.
Interesting stuff. All of the rented houses in our area are being fitted with solar panels which it seems are still cost effective despite the fact that we don't exactly get an awful lot of sunshine here in the north east of England.
Agree with you Bikramjit, the resources are not tapped.
Very true Annalisa, people want to do/not do things for their own benefit.
That is the right way Donna.
Thanks for dropping by.
Sigh.... wish all did the same.... imagine the saving.
Saving energy is easier said than done. It requires planning and commitment--something we should all be doing.
You got the right word - commitment.
Perfect for Earth day event!
Alternative sources of energy will indeed reduce energy crisis in world.
