A
global phenomenon that is observed
(especially in the developing countries) is the frequent recurrence of
draught and flood.
I feel
that we can prevent this up to a large extend if we manage to reign in our
rivers (guiding them to the less irrigated parts) and provide waste water
services.
Though
it may sound simple, it is a Herculean task, but the motivating factor to
accomplish this is “the will to do it” by our city fathers.
Can we
have such banners / links (like the one above) where we just inform the authorities and
they will promptly fix it.
Reminds
me of a news item I saw last week on TV where nice clean water was gushing out from
under a small culvert in Kerala (south India ) It was reported to the authorities and many
experts came and did a lot of investigation but could not locate the source of
the leak !!
Meanwhile the village folks were making best use of the clean water
in the prevailing summer time and water cuts.
Recently I came across a . . . . . .to continue reading click here

nice article !!!!
Interesting thought. It'a a shame so many peeps take clean water for granted. I'm glad those villagers made good use of the resource that came their way!
A really good ad!!!
Here in UAE we have an excellent desalination plant which turns sea water in drinking water; so we get water 24 hrs and ppl tend to forget that this place is still a desert. The Municipality is trying to educate ppl abt not wasting water and even offering rewards for following their instructions.
Indians generally I feel are not guilty of it bcoz all our lives we have been taught by our parents by talk and action to be thrifty. So we follow out of habit but the locals and many other expatriates are very wasteful & careless:-(.
Hello! Thank you for your recent visit to my blog. Interesting article about water.

PUTTING WORDS DOWN ON PAPER
That's an interesting concept - a banner to report a leak. If people at the "leak reporting office" followed up with each report, it might really help!
Very environment oriented post.
Pakistan is also dealing with water issues.I understand the gravity of problem.
What a great article. It is so important to conserve water and make sure water is not being wasted. Thanks for sharing. I am a new follower. :)

Thanks for popping by my blog. It drives me crazy how wasteful LA is with water. Projects like reclaiming water seem so under explored.
That was a really well put together video clip...its a very well written thought :)

I second PZ. Great article.
Excellent idea. How come our great planners and wonderful politicians didn't think about it. There is only one explanation. All are corrupt and they want only to enrich themselves and their families and they are least interested in the welfare of the people. Get the Israelis to do the water management for us and I assure you they will show us how to save every drop of water going waste in our country. They should be called here to help us and we should not send our so called experts to their country to study what they do because our experts will come back and loot more money from us in the name of water conservation. It is well known that the Jews have transformed their arid lands and deserts into fertile regions with high productivity.
Anna Hazare and his team should be given all encouragement and support. Prices are rising without any control, corruption has a firm grip in spheres of activity. Your idea is wonderful but who is interested. Let the millions suffer and the politicians will mint money is the current watch word in India.
Best wishes,
Joseph
Gr8...Sure i remember reading about something called National Water Grid. Don't really know how far has taken off but i'm glad with all the propaganda about saving water, many new projects have incorporated Rain Water Harvesting.
Thanx for sharing this and the video.
