Its always nice to see fruits hanging in the market especially in country side.
These are some of the pictures I clicked in Kerala (South India)There are many varieties in these yellow small ones and some are real sweet.
These pineapple display look great in the shop
but if we cut them into thin slices and add them at the bottom of the cake then its known as Pineapple cake upside down (yummy and juicy too)
This lady has a make shift shop and is waiting for the customers
Then there is the regular weekly market where you get all the fruits:
Some of the fruits that are available in plenty during the summer season in Kerala are the Jack fruit:
and mangoes
When it comes to tomatoes, most of us are in two minds..... is it a fruit or a vegetable?
This shop keeper was keeping an eye on me while I was clicking. Can't blame him, if I dislodge one, it will send the whole pile tumbling down.

Beautiful pictures! I love markets, it is a great place to learn about the culture, traditions and food.
Great colorful photos, Joe. My mom used to make pineapple upside down cake. I haven't thought about that in years. It was delicious. :)
Beautiful photos...and now I'm hungry!
Oh I'm sure he was keeping an eye on you! You'd have been picking up or paying for a lot of tomatoes. It's so nice here in Canada when the fresh fruit becomes available at the local farmer's markets.
Great post for "F".
Thanks for visiting my post, too.

I don't think I've ever seen that many bananas in one place!
Away from the computer for a time, I missed that you are doing an April challenge...
but F isn't so far along that I might not be able to catch up on your entries...nice fruity fotos... Happy April to you.
I love that photo of the tomatoes (a fruit, I say). I made a pineapple upside-down cake at school, it was excellent! Looked almost as nice as your one :)
All the fresh fruit and vegetables look divine! I would love to go to a market like that. I once had to look up whether tomatoes were a fruit or a vegetable. Technically, they are a fruit (so say the seeds and makeup of it).

Mmmm... Pineapple upside cake. Yum. I make those every birthday for my kids. They just love it. It'd been years since I could find the mix at the stores, one day (about a month ago) I found them. Guess what? I bought the store! I want to stock up in case they decide not to sell them anymore!
