Running for health

Keeping oneself fit is the order of the day and I noticed this while on my cycling round close to my residence.

There was a run and walk event organised by a community who calls themselves Movember Run.

I just kept following them and it was good to see that the participants were from all age groups

There was a lady with a child in her arm. I asked her "did you run with the child?" to which she replied "Yes, I actually wanted to do the 3 km stretch but ended up doing 5 km just to keep the child entertained"

Noticed a couple of guys who were running barefoot

Close to the finish line I saw these overhead tanks tastefully painted.

After the event there were cooling down sessions with a yoga instructor showing the right way to do it.

And as usual there were photo sessions and selfie sessions

and some were concentrating on taking the picture of the prestigious medal

I noticed some photo booths too at the finish venue and some of the participants made it colourful.

I was later told that the Bollywood actor Manjot Singh did the flag off and gave away the prizes, but I was not around at that time.
Made a short video on what I could capture in the morning.

Great time getting healthy. It amuses me that these days there is an expert for everything...instructions to cool down" I've been cooling down for years with no expertise, you simply slow down catch your breath and relax. IT is really not complicated.

That sure looks like a fun event!
But 5 km with a child... respect!
I remember when I was a kid we ran around barefoot, too. Not these days anymore it seems, all kids wear shoes.

A fun way to get the juices flowing. Running barefoot must take quite some concentration...

It is nice that all age groups participated. I have never been much good at running, and have often wondered why. I am full of amazement at the lady who ran 5 KM with her child!

Lovely event and great pictures! Yor videos are always so comprehensive and with such beautiful background music!
I sometimes was late for work and used to run after the bus. That was all the running I did. Now, in my retirement years, I prefer walking to running.

The barefoot runners are something. Have you seen the shoes that mimic bare feet? No thanks!

It hurts my feet just to think of running barefoot. Mind you thinking of running hurts me plenty already. :)

Joe, your interest, patience in shooting and lively admirable comments on the participants shows your enthusiasm, which is equally healthy as the event. Health is the fitness of body and mind. You have both.God bless you!
We could experience the charm of the event thru you. Thanks.

Thank you for capturing the event. It's a good initiative to promote running, and its great cardio. Nothing like a run with friends!

How amazing it is to see a whole community participate in such an event. 5 km holding a child? Incredible. I love this. Be back soon.
