Lining the Pan

Wifey said "why don't you make yourself useful and help me in the kitchen. I am going to bake a cake."
Me "That's good. So what do you want me to do?"
Wifey "why don't you get the baking dish ready by putting in the parchment paper, and make sure you do it the right way. Last time you did it, all my batter leaked out into the pan"
Now this was a challenge for me as I know how bad and sticky it will be if the batter leaks out.
The pan being circular made it all the more difficult. So I put my engineering skills into use and made some sort of frills (sewing skills here) so that there was no open ends left for leakage.

After greasing the pan, sticking in the paper was tricky but finally managed it with some fine tuning

Pouring in the batter was wifey's department as she had to make sure that it was equally distributed in both the pans.

the two pans after baking

Once baked I had to make sure that both the layers were exactly one on top of the other. It was not an easy task as the cake was very very soft and any mishandling would break it.
I tried my best and this is how the second layer finally landed on the first one

After a little bit of cajoling and pushing, I managed to align  both the layers.
Wifey took over and did the icing part and the final product was not bad I must say.

Oh by the way, the batter did not leak.

Little Bridge

Like they say “If the packaging is right, half the work is done” I was impressed by the packaging of these products displayed in the shop Little Bridge

Had been to this shop a few days ago and was impressed by the items that were on display.

I noticed some products from Two Brothers Organic Farms.

This organization (Two Brothers) helps farmers in and around Maharashtra to produce farm products and diary products that are free of chemicals. They even go to the extent of using bullock carts in the farms (in place of polluting tractors and trucks)

The price is also comparable, as I know the price of these cakes that are available in Pune. Good to know that Pune products are sold in Mumbai

I tried out some of these dhoklas and samoosa and I must say that the dhoklas were real soft and tasty. (I was told that they supply Parsee food too)

The Cheese Garlic Bread and the Choco Chip cookies were aesthetically displayed, and within easy reach of the customers.

Located in a quite nice place, I found that the shop had opened early, even before the other shops opened in the area.

The customers started trickling in and by the time I left I found that the shop was almost full.

The shop is funded by CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Over the last decade the CSR has moved considerably from voluntary decisions at level of individual organizations, to mandatory schemes at regional, national and even transnational levels.
Probably the CSR has seen something good in the Little Bridge as it helps many deserving people who man the shop as well as the suppliers.
It is located in Bandra (Mumbai) and in case any one wants to reach them, they are available at +91 8928665818
The wall clock in the shop says it all, Attitude is everything

Fun day for kids

Capturing pictures when the subject is in motion is a challenge. I managed to get a few during the relay of the annual sports day of Little Angels School.

Sports day is fun especially for the kids. This is the third sports day of this school that I am attending (two in Pune and one in Mumbai)  Every time I get to learn something new and last week was no exception.
The house captains along with their Sir, making a final inspection of the ground before the start of the event.

The march past was perfect with children marching to the tune of Col Bogey’s march .

The Blue House won the trophy for the best team in the march past. You can see it in the video.

The Lezim dance performed by the senior boys was worth watching. I can imagine the amount of practice that has gone into it.

There was this boy Nishant Pai  from yellow house who helped the guest (Ms Purvi Shah) to put the medal over his head, then he helped her to put the medal over the boy who stood second, and then again he went on to help her do the same with the guy who stood third. It was such a spontaneous gesture that it won the hearts of all who were present there.

Nikki Rita who won the Gold medal for the Inter Competition for Mumbai Rifle shooting  was felicitated by Ms Priya Dutt.

Some moments from the day………

Waiting for their team mates to speed up

Happy to be on the victory stand, with the parents

Even though he stood third, he did not mind giving a salute

All eyes on the camera for that happy occasion

In sync with the beat of the lezim

Making it to the finishing line together

Ms Priya Dutt catching up with Mr Mahesh Lohima of Air India.

The last item on the agenda was for the parents, namely tug of war between the husbands and the wives. The result? Well let me say it was a draw.
