Washrooms

It is interesting to see the different signs that are put up in the washrooms of hotels and restaurants.
Some are very simple like these

These are from a hotel in Amsterdam.

The entrance for this one is a common one (for Men and Women) This was in California where we had brunch at the Cliffhouse. The type of art used here is from the early fifties.

This is from La Bularia, an eating place in Amsterdam. From the drawings, one can make out that it is a Spanish joint.

One that I saw in France

I don’t know where I clicked this but the braille letters at the bottom indicate that they have thought of the blind people too.

In case people can’t read the “Ladies” sign, there is a picture of a girl alongside it. The drawing of the girl is in Mario Miranda style, but not actually by Mario. This is at the Baga beach, Goa (Hotel Britto)

Talking of toilets, I found this feedback system installed in Singapore airport (Changi) very interesting. After using the toilet, you can give your feedback by just pressing a button. What a simple and effective way for instant feedback.

Like me, all must have pressed “excellent” as can be seen here.

Coming back to washroom, this is one sign which needs no description. Every Indian anywhere in the world will know the meaning of this. Clicked this in an eating place in the suburbs of Mumbai.

:) :) felt like sharing one that had me rolling and lolling for days on...it came as a whatts app image message but i can't...but enjoyed ur photos they r neat. People these days have quirky ideas for loo signs and as time passes the funkier it gets and was hoping to seeing some in ur posts too but this is good. Btw Changi and the other places what impressed me most in all the loos was that neat baby zone for changing the baby diapers. God alone knows when we will have those in our transit zones. Some of the swanky malls in twons have done it but not the airports...didn't see it at the domestic one. Have to watch at the International one now. Did you see it...that toddlers changing zone...?

You make me regret not photographing all the rest room signs I've seen.

Changi airport is indeed the best in the world. And yes, like the last commentator said, you make me regret that I have not taken any pictures of quirky things like this one.

A toilet rating system? Now I've seen everything, lol! Also, gas stations really should install these, b/c most gas station bathrooms...yuck!

Okay, what does that last symbol mean? I'm going to have to bug some friends and figure it out! Very creative and interesting post! I've always loved signs in different countries.

Nice collection! France letters are nice but ours is best! We should support our country, right?!

Now that is really interesting. I guess the universal symbols are not that universal after all.

Oh, I love this. I've been fascinated by bathroom signs for years, wherever I go, but I've never been clever to document them. Your post here may have just motivated me to start taking pictures!

Great that you clicked all this & shared with us!
Never really noticed them much! :)
Love the Changi e-rating initiative :)

I don't remember ever rating a restroom. lol Very interesting signs!

Very interesting!!! I have to say, I prefer when the restrooms actually say "Men" and "Women." When it's just a picture or written in a fancy foreign language, I can have that moment of doubt where I worry that I'm going to enter the wrong one!

Nice post... I like the last one the best, so cool! I saw one in Trivandrum that was quite beckoning (beguiling to the opposite sex), you can see it here: http://summer--breeze.blogspot.in/2014/05/villa-maya-in-trivandrum.html

Interesting..once i was in a tattoo shop ..As soon I entered the restroom it was filled with weird statues and piercings and paintings that they sold.. they used it more as a store room..
