Everyone would like to learn dancing but when it comes to people
like me (with two left feet) it’s a difficult task.
Attended the workshop for Salsa (conducted by Justine’s Dance Academy)
and I decided to be behind the camera to catch the action.
As mentioned in the previous blog, the workshop was organised
by the Art Hop (in association with Pune Mirror)
By the time I reached the location, Rajesh (the guy who was
conducting the class) was already on the floor with an appreciable number of ‘students’
eager to learn the Salsa.
The twists and turns were a bit difficult for the new comers
but I saw that they took it in their stride.
I picked up some words that are used in Salsa like when you
say “Dame” it means you switch over to the next follower.
I heard Rajesh say that in salsa there is a leader and a follower.
The music was fast paced and the rhythm was perfect.
Basically it was fun and that made the whole thing light and
easy. I think if you have a look at the video you will understand what I am trying
to say.
I also have two left feet, that's why I have never learned any form of dance.
ReplyDeleteThe video is really interesting to watch the various fast foot movement. I am also no good as far as dancing is concerned. However, I always watching all the dance programs in TV. Have you been able to pick up the steps?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun! I enjoyed the music and watching the dancers on the video. They did a great job.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun! Thanks for dropping by this morning. Yes! My garden box has a full, deep box of dirt in the back.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, I'm not so sure I'd be that brave
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I really enjoyed your Holland posts. I love visiting Holland. In fact, my husband was born there and lived there until he was 8 years old.
ReplyDeleteSalsa is a cool dance. So glad that you are learning new steps :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely serie of students in Salsa lesson. And I like your text, which seems a little bit humor (as "dame" in the new words).
ReplyDeleteSalsa is very very nice dance, and I'll hope you will learn it well and - of course - will dance it, too. (The two left feet is not a barrier to learning, it's just an excuse ... hih)
Your video is lovely, it seems that salsa is very dificult to learn, but still everyone has a lots of fun.
I'm glad that you have found my dance blog and I'm happy for your every comment. I haven't take any photos in courses or dance places, where I have been. I'll only tell a variety of dances from around the world, which seems to be hundreds of them.

I love the swaying and hip action in the salsa, but it's quite hard on the knees. I also love Zumba and FitSteps, which is based on ballroom dancing but done without a partner. It's really energetic!
ReplyDeleteI think that it would be so fun to learn salsa dancing. I am rather the clumsy sort though, and I may not be the best dancing partner during the learning stages since there would likely be lots of falling!
ReplyDeleteI think that learning to dance is a secret form of torture! I have one too many left feet!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
I'd love to be able to dance but elbow crutches do not a dancer make. Lovely photos, I think those smiles say everything there is to say about how much fun everyone was having.
ReplyDeleteI would love to learn how to dance salsa! Looks like so much fun! But I am not talented at all. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting my blog!
I would love to learn Salsa! That really looks like a lot of fun! Glad you got to enjoy learning it! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun. I would love to learn.
ReplyDeleteOh that looks fun.. Hope they have something like this in Mumbai too :D
ReplyDeleteFrom what I heard Pooja, a similar workshop was held in Mumbai (arranged by Mumbai Mirror) After its success in Mumbai they tried it out in Pune.
DeleteI liked it Joe, but it was not that hot ! I view it as more cha cha style (being a jive/cha cha dancer myself). Thanks for sharing. - Ivan
