And that reminds me of some banners that I saw recently in a famous housing complex here in Pune.
The banner read “we drink well water in space age”
Another one "After 15 years we don’t have conveyance, good water, car parking, playgrounds, tennis court, sport centre"
I think this is a novel way of protest.
I mean we have builders and builders and then there are good builders and not so good builders.
Some do up the whole place with beautiful huge gardens to attract customers and when the flats / bungalows are filled up they dig up the garden to build up a multistory building. And the hapless residents just look on as nothing can be done because they have already paid for it and moved in.
But wait a minute, nothing can be done ?
Look at these banners. I am sure that these are a good deterrent for future customers.
This was even published in a local news paper.
So are the residents protesting against those who built these complexes?

You need to stand up and talk....if you just sit and wait for someone else to do it for you....you might as well forget it as it will never be done. It's better to at least raise your voice, however feeble, 'coz it's better than doing nothing but blame others!
ReplyDeleteI always learn something new from your posts. Good reminder about World Water Day. But I don't know who are these people protesting against. With the increase in population, more houses are required. Builders are making apartments because they sell and people buy them. Unless the entire world take a concious decision to control the population growth, the trend will continue and yards, grass and trees wil disappear. However business community (that includes governments) would not like to stop population growth because that will stop economic growth.

ReplyDeleteVery nice banners. We are facing something similar in our community in Bangalore. We have banners in each house against the builder and all around the layout. He defaulted on many promises, and this is the best way we can protest. I stayed in Pune for almost a year before coming to Bangalore, and it is a beautiful, quiet city. We lived in Aundh. It must be pretty well developed now.
