You have just sealed your fate

Like one young girl in Bangalore said "If a rape victim can fight for her life for 13 days and if the Government can send her to Singapore for treatment, then what is stopping the government from sending the Rapists to Saudi Arabia for  a fitting punishment"

The Indian Governance and the Government - you have sealed your fate today.
You have just lost the next elections.

Very true Joe, in fact that is my status message in FB. We are all ashamed of what has been going on, with the PM reading through a pre written message, and in the end asking his subordinate"Theek Hai?", he can't even deliver a message naturally. The old hag Sheila reading from a paper, I mean what is wrong with these tainted leaders, how low can they stoop?
And why do they need so much security to meet the people too, good thing she was booed out.
These film stars too are pathetic, some with filmy tears, and that Prasoon Joshi, showing off his poetry and singing talent: really shameless lot of people.

Hi Joe, such a tragic end for such a sweet girl. Why is there so much violence toward women and girls?

Emotional outburst is better be avoided now. One can understand the indignant mind we may have now.
The question that should be asked is what provoked those beasts to act such and what went through their minds when they engaged in that heinous deed.
Should we look for controlling this extreme gangrene that has set in the society if not eliminating the scourge or should we confine to what we call justice and be content with sending them to RSA to be beheaded or hanged in our gallows?

Hi Haddock! Hope you are having a great season! Sorry for the absence, but 2012 was definitely a difficult year here in Portugal, and even worse for me...
Wish you a very Happy 2013, and enjoy Grenada in Blogtrotter Two!

I just want to say this, that this incident is but a symptom of what we Indian women face every day on the roads. This country is such that women have to strategize each and every time they step out. Are we wearing the right kind of clothes, what time are we coming home, how do we get back, can some male relative pick us up if if we are travelling by public transport at night? Do men even have to think about such things?
Because of my gender, anger and suspicion are part of my mental makeup. And really, that is not how one should have to live.

My sentiments exactly. Life imprisonment or even Death penalty for these men seem like mere tokenism, rather than an actual punishment in comparison to their barbaric act.

The news of the death of this young woman was devastating and shocking... but what gives me hope is the outrage and open expression of such by the people of Delhi and the world community. There can only be change when society refuses to accept behaviours and demands justice. Excellent post!

I share your feelings. It's a shame what happened to that girl. Many thanks for such a powerful post.

Greetings from London.

It is hard to hear about the awful things that happened to the woman and her friend. I hope that it can never happen again.

My heart goes out to the specific victims of this vile crime, to the victims' families and friends, to all the people who know that it could just as easily have been their fate, to the women and children and vulnerable citizens of India whose freedom is curtailed by the extraordinary caution they must exercise in all public realms, and to all decent people of India who long for goodness and beauty in all realms of life.
Your government .... they must respond, yes?
